DePaul is an affluent sub-neighborhood of Lincoln Park and takes its name from DePaul University’s 36-acre campus. Untouched by the Chicago Fire, DePaul became home to the many displaced Chicagoans and much of the architecture reflects that period with Italianate brick walkups or Queen Ann-style homes from the turn of the century. DePaul’s streets are highly walkable, and typically filled with a mix of undergraduates, young singles and mothers with strollers. The bursting commercial and entertainment options in Lincoln Park encircle the DePaul neighborhood; trendy restaurants, local bars, specialty shops and world class theatre.
DePaul real estate boasts top end prices and exquisite residential architecture. New construction condos and single-family homes are common, however, the community is steeped in elegant traces of the Victorian era with stately brownstones and towering hundred-year-old trees.
Real estate prices are in the upper bracket, with condos priced from $500,000 to $1million plus. Single-family homes tend to start around $1.4 million, and often fetch more than $5 million.
The streets of DePaul are alive with bars, cafes and restaurants that reflect the student body.
